Mr. Kabira is also committed to contributing to the local community, such as holding craftsman training courses, teaching papermaking to local elementary school students for the creation of graduation certificates, and working hard to get the craftsmanship registered as an intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO in 2009, thereby contributing to the preservation of traditional skills and the promotion of the local community. The product tags for K-iwami products such as shoulder pochettes and tote bags are made by Mr. Kabira, a leading traditional craftsman in Japan.
Each piece of washi paper is carefully crafted by him using his expert techniques, and is given new life as a K-iwami tag.
K-iwami not only pursues functionality and design, but also values traditional Japanese craftsmanship in its manufacturing. Please feel free to pick up a tag and feel the weight of the craftsmanship and history that is embodied in it.
