The main body of the bag is made of fabric woven with cotton thread and Kaminoito® , a new fiber made from pesticide-free hemp. The fabric is light, durable, and resistant to abrasion. It also has a water-repellent surface tension that makes it resistant to water and ensures breathability. The fabric is dyed using Edo Komon® techniques by traditional craftsman Ryuichi Nakajo, and then sewn by skilled bag makers. The product tag was specially made by Masao Kawahira, a master of Sekishu-banshi paper, a UNESCO intangible cultural asset of Shimane Prefecture.
The fabric of this product is resistant to fading due to ultraviolet rays, and the "Kaminoito® " used in the fabric has been certified as "Class 1" by Oeko-Tex, the strictest safety standard for textile products, meaning it is "safe for babies to touch." It has also been certified organic by CERES of Germany, which has strict organic certification requirements. K-iwami's products are friendly to both users and the global environment, and are a perfect fit for the coming age.
